3Commas V1 Is Shutting Down: How to Move to Veles, a Strong Alternative to 3Commas V2

3Commas has operated since 2017 and remains one of the best-known platforms for algorithmic cryptocurrency trading. Its history has not been straightforward: in December 2022, the API keys of around one hundred thousand users were leaked online, and the company confirmed the leak’s authenticity only after the data was published, asking exchanges to revoke all related keys. Now V1 is being shut down, and thousands of traders who spent years building strategies on it must decide where to move their bots and how much of their previous configurations they will be able to preserve.

The shutdown is scheduled for September 11, 2026, and users are being moved to V2, its successor built together with WunderTrading. There is no automatic 3Commas V2 migration: you will need to create a new account, reconnect your exchanges, and manually rebuild every bot.

At the same time, the new version has not become a complete replacement for V1. Some familiar workflows are organized differently, while some settings are missing altogether, so it will not always be possible to recreate an old strategy exactly: in some cases, you will need to change tools; in others, simplify the logic. The backtesting horizon in V2 is limited to 30 days, so you cannot test the result against long-term historical data before launch.

Below, we explain what will happen to bots after September 11, where V2 falls short of V1, and how to move 3Commas trading bots to a new service.

What Is Happening With 3Commas

What Will Be Shut Down on September 11

According to the official 3Commas FAQ:

  • V1 support ends on September 11, 2026;
  • you need to create a new account to use V2;
  • V1 API keys do not transfer, so exchanges must be reconnected;
  • bots do not transfer automatically, and their settings must be rebuilt manually;
  • V1 mobile apps are being removed, and V2 currently has no apps;
  • open orders and exchange positions remain in place — only the service managing them will stop.

What Will Happen to Open Deals

The 3Commas FAQ says that V1 bots and deals will continue working until September 11 and asks users to review open deals in advance. Exchange positions will not disappear — the V1 bot will simply stop managing them. For each open deal, you need to decide whether to:

  • let the bot’s current strategy finish — if you are confident the bot can close the deal as planned before September 11;
  • close or adjust the position manually on the exchange, taking control yourself;
  • protect the position with exchange-native orders — manually place a stop loss and/or take profit directly on the exchange to limit risk without the bot;
  • move the trading logic to another system.

What Will Happen to a Paid Subscription

If you have paid 3Commas time remaining, read the current terms in your account and the 3Commas Help Center before September 11:

  • remaining time can be transferred to V2 with bonus days and QP usage credits for QuantPilot (internal credits, not cryptocurrency);
  • you can use a seven-day V2 trial before activating the promo code from the email;
  • activating the promo code replaces your right to a subscription refund;
  • refunds are available only to subscribers on annual or longer plans with unused time remaining after the shutdown, and processing takes two to three weeks;
  • users with expired or inactive subscriptions may receive 30 days of V2 Pro through the promo code in the email.

The exact number of bonus days is provided by email and has not been published as a fixed public amount.

Where V2 Falls Short of V1

DCA Bots

The following 3Commas DCA bot features from V1 will not be available to V2 users:

  • Multi-pair bots;
  • Entry using indicators other than RSI, MACD, and Bollinger Bands;
  • Entry using more than one indicator;
  • Changing indicator settings and selecting timeframes;
  • Configuring a custom order grid;
  • Configuring a take-profit grid;
  • Signal-based exits;
  • Profit reinvestment.

Grid Bots

3Commas V2 Grid bots do not fall short of V1, except for the ability to set the maximum number of active orders.

Backtests

In 3Commas V2, the backtest history depth is limited to 30 days, compared with full history on the highest V1 plan. V2 backtest analytics are also more limited: maximum drawdown is not calculated, there is no profit progress bar, and other metrics are missing.

Summary

Grid bots moved to V2 with almost no losses. DCA lost everything that made the strategy manageable, while the 30-day backtest limit makes it difficult to assess the consequences against historical data. This is why moving DCA bots is not really a migration but a simplification to whatever the platform is prepared to support: the more complex the V1 configuration was, the less of it will remain in V2. If your strategy relied on these settings, it makes more sense to rebuild it where they are available — and Veles should be considered first.

How to Move Bots From 3Commas

Document Every Strategy You Plan to Keep

Before access to V1 ends, record the parameters that define each bot:

  • exchange, market, pair or list of pairs, and direction (long/short);
  • deal-opening conditions;
  • order-grid parameters;
  • take profit, stop loss, trailing, and partial-exit rules;
  • limits on the number of active deals;
  • reinvestment settings.

Structured notes are better than screenshots. You will need them to rebuild the strategy in V2 or Veles.

Download Your V1 Personal Data Report

3Commas provides an automated DSAR (Data Subject Access Request) report containing personal data associated with your V1 account. Submit the request in your V1 account settings and download the report before September 11, while V1 is still accessible. The official 3Commas Help Center explains how to make the request.

Rebuild Your Bots

The process is the same for whichever platform you choose:

  • register an account and connect the exchange with a new API key: V1 keys do not transfer, so create a separate key with withdrawals disabled and an IP restriction;
  • rebuild one bot from your notes instead of the entire portfolio at once: this lets you see where the new platform’s settings differ from what you are used to while the cost of an error is still minimal;
  • backtest the rebuilt configuration and compare its behavior with what the bot did in V1;
  • launch the bot with a smaller position size and make sure orders are placed as expected — only then should you scale and move the remaining bots;
  • revoke the V1 API keys when you no longer need access to it.

Leveraged bots require an additional check: do not connect new automation to an already open position until you are sure it correctly recognizes the position size and average entry price.

Move to V2 or Veles?

It would be wrong to treat V2 as a pure downgrade — it does have new capabilities. Hyperliquid integration and multi-account trading through multiple API keys in Signal Bot have been added. Grid bots moved over with almost no losses, while the free plan lets you run one bot of each type at no cost.

If you ran a simple single-pair DCA trading bot using one indicator or mainly worked with Grid bots, your workflow remains available in V2, and switching platforms would create extra work without providing a benefit.

Veles vs 3Commas

Veles covers exactly the workflows that V2 does not support. Entry logic is built from combinations of indicators with configurable periods and timeframes instead of being selected from a short list, while the averaging and profit-taking mechanics remain under the trader’s control. A V1 strategy can be moved without simplifying it, preserving the way you built it.

Backtesting here is not a formality but a validation tool: there is enough history to run a strategy through different market phases, while the analytics break results down to individual deals and orders. On Bybit Futures, calculations use tick data — the actual sequence of trades rather than candles.

Move From 3Commas Together With Your Community

Veles is open not only to traders — we also welcome creators, influencers, and their audiences. We understand that moving a community to a new platform takes work. That is why we take on part of that work and make the transition worthwhile.

What creators moving from 3Commas receive:

  1. A higher referral rate — a percentage of the commission from every referred user on an ongoing basis, plus an exchange referral program on top. Two revenue streams from one audience.
  2. Support with materials and content: ready-to-publish posts and announcements tailored to your audience, creative assets, facts for reviews, demo materials, and backtest statistics — we produce all the content for you, leaving you only to publish it.
  3. A personalized selection of bots matched to your audience profile, with transparent backtest statistics and ready-made materials under your brand.
  4. Turnkey migration: step-by-step instructions for your followers and a dedicated support line during the move, so your direct messages do not turn into a support desk.
  5. A reward for moving your audience: a negotiable bonus for users who move with you.

An important detail of our model is that Veles charges a commission only on a user’s profit (20%, capped at $50 per month). We benefit when your audience trades successfully over the long term, so creators’ referral income can last for years rather than ending after the first unsuccessful month.
